Because we are slowly approaching a new year, I come up with an exercise proposal that will put your imagination to the test: Creating a vision board.
A vision board is a collection of visuals designed to keep you motivated and afloat when it comes to your goals and ambitions. Whether it's inspirational quotes, links or images, this is your private space where you can put down exactly what you want on paper, a visual representation of how you envision your best life.
Whether we're talking about your personal or professional aspirations, a vision board should contain your future plans, what motivates you, and maybe even ideas that come to you ad hoc related to important topics in your life (that you might otherwise have overlook).
When you give yourself the space to put what you want on paper, it helps you have a better understanding of the end goal you need to reach. It can help you make more informed choices about what you want and how much you want it.
The vision board is a constantly growing and developing space, just like you. Don't be afraid to remove certain things that no longer align with your mission, or add new elements or ideas that come to you along the way that can keep you motivated.
We all know that some days are harder, and a vision board can help keep us motivated even when we can't find the energy we need. Plus, you're more likely to see an increase in productivity because you can visualize these goals becoming reality.
Improves focus: It gives you a goal and something to focus on every day, even if it's small steps. That way, you have more clarity on what you want to accomplish to reach your end goal.
You are free to shape a life on paper the way you want it, without the restrictions and opinions of those around you. Write down the things that are important to you and make a plan to achieve them.
For the vision board to really work, it's important to place it somewhere visible! At times when you are not sure where life is going, take a look at the vision board, as it can indirectly help you make certain decisions and help you recalibrate.
In the book "Manifest" - by Roxie Nafousi, the author proposes us to use the guide of questions:
And as a complement would be:
If you don't know where to start and what would be the relevant categories in your life, I invite you as a starting exercise to complete "The wheel of life", to clarify the areas or aspects of your life that you would like to improve, and then create a board containing these categories.
Here we can talk about one or more categories, such as:
Once you've defined your main category or categories, choose a way to lay them out on the board (either physically or virtually) and allow yourself to daydream and outline what your ideal is. You can be as creative as you want (or not), the important thing is that it contains the things that are really important to you.
The main benefit of creating a vision board is the fact that you can have it physically (or virtually) at hand at all times, helping you remember what goals you have set and the fact that you can track their progress throughout the year.
And for the vision board to really work, don't forget to place it somewhere visible!
What is the vision you want to bring to reality?
