We've all had episodes where we weren't paying attention to those around us while they were talking to us, or moments where we started doing one thing and were instantly distracted by something else, forgetting what we really wanted to do. All of this is because we can no longer focus on one thing and are constantly looking for other stimuli.
Our ability to concentrate has been extremely affected in recent years due to the multitasking culture and excessive consumption of social media while doing other things, creating the false impression that we can multitask.
What is actually happening?
We interrupt.
A fragmentation of thoughts and actions occurs and we often forget what the original goal was and what we were actually doing.
How can we recalibrate our attention?
1. Introspection / Mindfulness - observing and analyzing the component and what are the triggers - at what moments does distraction appear, what makes us look for other stimuli instead of focusing on what we are doing.
2. Limiting time spent on social media applications (screen time).
3. Walks in nature without your phone (detox)
4. Active listening in conversations (putting the phone away).
5. Avoid using your phone (laptop/tablet) at least one hour before bed to have the most restful sleep possible.
6. Time windows - Focus on one thing at a time for a certain amount of time, then move on to the next action, so you have the satisfaction of successfully completing one action before moving on to the next.

I agree with this, because just as is recommended in the coaching process, we need to analyze reality a little, see if this goal we are trying to set is really feasible, and then see what the motivation behind it is. Do we really want this or does this idea actually come from somewhere else? Maybe it was instilled in us by someone or we grew up with the idea that this is how we should do it, without asking ourselves if it is really right for us.
